AEO for Dentists: AI Search Optimization for Dental Practices

To get your dental practice recommended by ChatGPT, make the facts easy to find and the same everywhere: a clear page for each treatment, named dentists with credentials you can show, recent Google reviews with replies, matching listings on Google, Apple Maps, Bing and dental directories, and Dentist schema. I check each of these and fix the gaps.

I am Memona, an answer engine optimization (AEO) consultant. I help dental practices get named when patients ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google AI Overviews for a dentist, and you work with me directly.

What does AI look at before it recommends a dental practice?

When a patient asks an AI tool for a dentist, the answer is built from what is written about practices across the web: their own websites, their listings, their reviews and what other sites say about them. Dental care is a health topic, so the safest approach is to give AI facts it can check rather than claims it has to take on trust. These are the six areas I look at first.

Treatment pages with clear answers

One page for each treatment you actually offer, such as check-ups, implants, aligners or emergency appointments. Each one opens with a plain answer to the question a patient asks: what it is, what happens at the appointment and how to book. A single services page with one line per treatment gives AI very little to quote.

Named dentists with credentials you can show

A team page that names each dentist, with the qualifications and professional registration your practice can show, and a link to the public register where your country has one. Real people with details anyone can check are easier for AI to trust than a line about an experienced team.

Google reviews, and your replies

Recent, genuine reviews on your Google Business Profile, with a reply to each one. Keep replies general: thank the reviewer without confirming they are a patient or mentioning any treatment. I never buy, gate or script reviews, and I would not advise you to.

The same facts on every listing

Your practice name, address, opening hours and treatments should match on Google Business Profile, Apple Maps, Bing Places and the dental directories patients use in your country. When these disagree, AI has to choose between versions of your practice, and it can choose the wrong one.

Schema on your own site

Structured data that labels your practice as a Dentist (a type of MedicalBusiness in schema.org), with your address, hours and the dentists who work there, plus FAQ markup that matches the questions on the page. Schema does not earn a recommendation by itself. It helps your facts get read correctly.

Crawler access

AI search tools can only use pages they can reach. Some website builders, security plugins and firewalls block crawlers such as OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot or Googlebot without anyone noticing. I check your robots.txt file and server responses, so the pages you have written can actually be read.

The same trust signals apply to clinics of every kind. I go through them in more depth in my guide to SEO and AEO for healthcare clinics.

How can you test what AI says about your practice in 60 seconds?

You do not need a tool for a first look. Open ChatGPT, Gemini and Google on your phone, and ask each one the same question a new patient in your area would ask.

  1. 1

Ask ChatGPT like a new patient

Type the question a new patient would ask, using your own area and a treatment you offer, for example: which dentist near me is good with nervous patients? Note whether your practice is named and the reason given.

  2. 2

    Ask Gemini to describe you

Ask Gemini the same question. Then ask it for your practice's address, opening hours and treatments by name, and compare every detail with what is true today.

  3. 3

Search Google for an AI Overview

Search Google for the same question. If an AI Overview appears at the top, note which practices it names and which websites it links to as sources.

Write down three things: whether your practice is named, whether the details about it are right, and which sources the answer leans on. Answers change with the person asking, their location and the day, so run the test more than once. If you are missing, or the facts are wrong, that is where the work starts.

If you would rather I run it properly, across more questions and all four engines, request a free audit and I will send you what I find.

Is AEO for dentists different from dental SEO?

It builds on it. Dental SEO is about ranking in Google’s results and map pack when someone searches for an emergency dentist or a treatment near them. Answer engine optimization is about being the practice an AI answer names when the patient asks a question instead of scrolling a list. Most of the groundwork is shared: an accurate Google Business Profile, genuine reviews and clear treatment pages serve both.

My page on SEO for dental practices covers the Google side, and healthcare and clinic SEO covers the wider trust signals that health websites need. If you want a step-by-step order of work for your own team, read my guide on how to rank a dental practice.

What does working with me include?

Every engagement starts with scope, not a package. On the first call I look at your website, your listings and the questions patients ask in your area, and tell you plainly whether AI search is worth your money right now. If it is, this is what the work looks like. The method is the one I describe on my page about what an answer engine optimization consultant does, applied to a dental practice.

Deliverables

A written baseline of what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews say about your practice, with the prompts used. A fix list for your site and listings, in priority order. Answer-first rewrites of your key treatment and team pages. Schema and crawler-access changes, made directly or handed to your web developer.

Cadence

A kickoff call, then a written plan within the first two weeks. After that, a monthly cycle: changes shipped, prompts re-tested, next priorities agreed with you. Calls are short and booked around your clinic hours, and you always deal with me directly.

Reporting

One plain-English monthly report: which prompts now name your practice, what changed on your site and listings, and the enquiries you can trace through your own booking form and analytics. No made-up scores, and I never need access to patient records.

Not ready for an ongoing engagement? The AI visibility audit is a one-off review of what AI engines say about your practice and why, with a fix list you can hand to your own team.

Who is this for, and who is it not for?

A good fit

  • Independent practices and small groups with a working website and real Google reviews.
  • Practice owners and managers who want to know what AI tells patients about them.
  • Practices with a web developer or agency who want a specialist for the AI search side.

Not a good fit

  • Anyone who wants a guaranteed spot in AI answers. Nobody can honestly promise that, and I will not.
  • Practices that want bought, gated or incentivised reviews.
  • Content that promises clinical outcomes. I do not write it.
  • Clinical or legal advice. I am not a dentist or a lawyer.

One note on advertising rules. The rules on how dentists can advertise, describe treatments and use patient reviews differ from country to country. Your practice stays responsible for what it publishes, so I work within the rules you tell me apply, and your clinicians sign off anything clinical before it goes live.

Something else on your mind? Ask on a free call.

How do I get my dental practice recommended by ChatGPT?
Give ChatGPT consistent facts it can find and check: a clear page for each treatment, named dentists with credentials, recent Google reviews with replies, the same details on every listing, and schema on your site. ChatGPT also draws on what other sites say about you, so mentions matter. Nobody can promise a mention, but these are the inputs you control.
How long before AI starts naming my dental practice?
I cannot give you a date, and be wary of anyone who does. Fixes to your own site and Google listing can show up in Google AI Overviews and Perplexity sooner. Reviews and mentions on other sites take longer to build. I show you a baseline, the changes made and monthly re-test results, so you can judge progress yourself.
Do I need Dentist schema on my practice website?
It helps, but it is not a shortcut. Dentist schema tells search engines and AI tools, in a structured way, what your practice is, where it is, when it is open and who works there. It works best when it matches what your pages and listings already say. Wrong or inflated schema can do more harm than none.
Can you write treatment pages for my dental practice?
Yes, with your clinicians in the loop. I structure each page so it answers the patient's question in the opening lines, and I write the plain-English parts. Anything clinical, such as suitability, risks or aftercare, comes from your dentists and is signed off by them. I do not give clinical advice, and I do not write outcome promises.
Does AEO replace dental SEO or my current agency?
No. Answer engine optimization builds on SEO rather than replacing it, and most of the groundwork is shared. Many practices keep their web or marketing agency for the website and paid ads, and bring in a specialist for the AI search side. I am happy to work alongside your agency and hand changes to your developer.
Do you work with dental practices outside the UAE?
Yes. I am based in Dubai and work with practices in other countries over video calls, shared documents and your own analytics. Advertising rules for dentists differ by country, so at the start I ask which rules apply to your practice and keep the content within them. Your clinicians always have the final say on anything clinical.
